I'm doing an animated poem for my final project, and it's surprisingly difficult to find examples of animated poetry that is actually inspiring to me. I found some examples, but I chose to draw a lot of inspiration from animated lyric videos as well, since they guaranteed use typography.
The Heat Waves music video utilizes typography as its own art form, which I find very interesting. If the type is treated correctly, practically nothing else needs to be on the screen. I can use this technique in my poem animation...sparingly. I have a section in my poem that doesn't use any imagery other than the text itself, and I can do something like this in that section. Of course, I would make that animation fit my own theme, which is not all broken and wavy like this.
The contrasting colors used in this video are also worth noting. It has a large range of colors, as does my video, but the colors are used in such a way that everything still seems to go together.
