ENERGY STAR® is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency. The blue ENERGY STAR label provides simple, credible, and unbiased information that consumers and businesses rely on to make well-informed decisions.
ENERGY STAR is administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Thousands of organizations—including nearly 40% of the Fortune 500®—partner with ENERGY STAR. Together with EPA, they deliver cost-saving energy efficiency solutions that protect the climate, improve air quality, and protect public health.
D.R. Horton is an ENERGY STAR partner, but it varies from division to division. That means that one division may be a partner while another is not. Each division must sign a partnership agreement.
There are lots of requirements that go into getting a home certified by ENERGY STAR, so not all of our homes will make the cut. However, we recognize that energy efficiency and comfort are important to our homebuyers, so we want to offer information about the program. We do not want to overshadow our homes that are not ENERGY STAR certified in this process, so we decided to take an informational rather than promotional standpoint in the grand scheme of the campaign.
We have created an unindexed webpage that informs buyers of the ENERGY STAR certification and what that means for homeowners. Homebuyers will navigate to this page using a QR code that can be found on a 4x4 flyer, as well as small-scale outdoor signage.
The 4x4 flyer provides a very brief description of ENERGY STAR but is mainly used as a push to the informational webpage. The signage is optional for divisions and is to be placed only in front of ENERGY STAR certified homes as a way to specify which homes earned the certification.
